A Jamestown man was seriously injured in a rollover crash on Interstate 94 near Valley City Tuesday at about 1:40 p.m.

North Dakota Highway Patrol Sgt. Tom Herzig said Jusufu Hargrave, 31, was driving his 2002 GMC Envoy at 75 miles per hour while using cruise control westbound on the interstate when he changed lanes to drive around two semis. While crossing an icy overpass, Hargrave braked to avoid a truck that weaved onto his lane.

The Envoy began to slide. Hargrave drove into the median and lost control of the vehicle. The Envoy crossed the median, both eastbound lanes and entered the south ditch. The vehicle rolled through the south ditch, a fence and across a frontage road before coming to rest on its top in a vacant lot.

Herzig said Hargrave was transported by ambulance to CHI Mercy Health in Valley City and then transferred to a Fargo hospital.

The Barnes County Sheriff's Department, Valley City Police Department and Barnes County Rescue all responded to the scene. The crash remains under investigation by the NDHP.
