HAPPENING THIS WEEKEND: Sibley Days, Ft. Ransom State Park 40th Anniversary

Looking for an adventure this weekend? You won't have to drive far for some family-friendly outdoor entertainment.

Sibley, N.D., next to Lake Ashtabula in northern Barnes County, is hosting its annual Sibley Days celebration on Saturday, June 25. Events include a kids fishing derby at 10 a.m., kids games at the beach with hot dogs and ice cream to follow at 11:30 a.m., a parade at 2 p.m., bingo at 4 p.m., supper at the park at 6 p.m. and street dance with live entertainment in the evening.

Fort Ransom State Park near Fort Ransom, N.D. is having a 40th anniversary party this Saturday, June 25.

For just a $5 park entrance, attendees can participate in a variety of events, including coffee with the camp host at 9 a.m.; a guided hike at 10 a.m.; bounce house and car show at noon; barbecue cook off at 3:30 p.m.; Sunne Farm tours from 5-7 p.m. and a guest speaker at 8 p.m.

Winners of the barbecue cook off and car show will be announced at 4:30 p.m. BBQ teams should contact Steve Thorfinnson at (701) 680-9335 to register. Any classic car, truck or tractor may enter the car show.
