Ondracek, Miller Come Up Big in Jamestown

September 1, 2014

Dalton Ondracek picked up a Singles win before he and Brandon Miller scored a Doubles win in Thursday’s non-conference trip to Jamestown, but the Blue Jays took the match, 7-2.

“We have three new players to tennis this year who are playing Varsity: Riley Miller, Collin White and Hunter Burchill,” Valley City head coach Matt Nielson said. “[In] each match, these three played their best match to date. I’m impressed with all three’s attitudes, coachability and belief that they can win the next point.”

Hi-Liners Hold Up, Hang On

September 1, 2014

If you thought Valley City was in trouble at Dickinson on Friday night, you haven’t met these Hi-Liners.

Down 14-0 in the second quarter of a game delayed by bus trouble, Valley City scored three times in the second half off three Midget fumbles and held for the upset at Dickinson State’s Fisher Field.

“It was guts, especially with a 2A team playing a 3A team,” Hi-Liner head coach Scott Roehrich said. “They manhandled us last year [a 48-0 Midget opener at Hanna Field], but these were not the same two teams playing as last year.”
