Valley City State University's student art sale and show are both taking place this week: the art sale on Tuesday and Wednesday, and the art show through Dec. 9, said Armando Ramos, chairman of the VCSU art department.

The biannual art sale takes place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday in VCSU Student Center, 230 Viking Drive Southwest. It includes ceramics, pottery, prints, sculptures, water colors and silk screen by VCSU students.

Ceramics student Hayden Swanson said money raised will help pay for visiting artists and other opportunities for students, but a majority of the money will go to the student who created the work of art.

Ramos said that between seven and 10 students art works will be on sale and the sale will be handled by the art students.

"The sale gives students the opportunity to operate a sale and have their art enter the world before they graduate. The sale offers a wide variety of art and prices perfect for gifts for the holiday season,"
said Swanson.

Ramos said the Fall Student Art Exhibition will take place 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., through Dec. 9 in the McCarthy Gallery, on the third floor of McCarthy Hall.
