Monday, June 5
Barnes County Senior Center whist tournament is at 1:15 p.m.

The Valley City-Barnes County Public Library Bad Art Night will be held from 4 to 6 p.m.

Tuesday, June 6
Barnes County Senior Center pinochle is at 1:15 p.m.

The Valley City-Barnes County Public Library Children’s Summer Learning Program Kickoff, featuring ultimate fort building and a LEGO party, will be held from 4 to 6 p.m.

What in the World Is Going On?, a local college/community group, is hosting an opportunity for book enthusiasts to share their favorite reads at 7 p.m. at the Vault Coffee Shop and Bakery, 213 Central Ave. North in Valley City.

Wednesday, June 7
The Valley City-Barnes County Public Library Story Hour featuring maintenance vehicles will be held at 10:30 a.m.

Barnes County Senior Center bone builders is at 9:30 a.m. and whist is at 1:15 p.m.

Music in the Park, featuring Kathy Brekke and the 42nd Street Jazz Band, will be held in the Valley City City Park Bandshell at 7:15 p.m. In the event of inclement weather, programs will be relocated. Information on that can be found at www.vcparks.com or by calling 701-845-3294. It will also be announced on KOVC 1490. Attendants should bring their own lawn chair or blanket and mosquito spray.

Thursday, June 8
The Valley City-Barnes County Public Library Make -n- Take Herb Garden will be held at 10:30 a.m. and Six weeks of Judaism begins at 6 p.m.

Barnes County pinochle is at 1:15 p.m.

The Vault Coffee Shop in Valley City is hosting an art show by local artist Tanaya Leifson from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The theme is children.

Cruise the Valley and a block party will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. in downtown Valley City.

The Valley City American Legion meets at 7 p.m.

Friday, June 9
Barnes County Senior Center bone builders exercise is at 9:30 a.m. and bingo is at 1 p.m.

The Valley City-Barnes County Public Library Toddler Music and Movement will be held at 10:30 a.m. and Random Acts of Kindness Craft, featuring no sew t-shirt totes, will be held at 1:30 p.m.

Red River Singles Red, White and Blue Dance, featuring the music of Lute Simley, will be held from 8 p.m. to 12 a.m. at the West Fargo VFW Club. For more information, visit www.red-river-singles.org or call 701-367-8186.

4-H Horse Show will be held at the North Dakota Winter Show Event Center in Valley City.

Saturday, June 10
The Valley City-Barnes County Public Library LEGO Club meets at 10:30 a.m.

The June bluegrass jam in Valley City will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Barnes County Museum. The acoustic-only jam is free and open to the public and beginning bluegrass musicians are welcome to attend. The event is sponsored by the Bluegrass Association of North Dakota (B.A.N.D.) and the Barnes County Museum. The July bluegrass jam has been cancelled so the next one after June will be August 12. For more information contact John Andrus at 701-762-4891.

The third in a series of songwriter showcases is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Vault Arts Center and Coffee Shop in Valley City. The event is free and open to the public with a free-will offering opportunity. This month’s event features the compositions of bluegrass performer John Andrus. John’s music is down-home and sometimes quirky and his banjo compositions are often based on non-standard banjo tunings.  Attendees with music to share will be invited to do so. For more information contact John at 701-721-8296.
