Monday, July 3
The Valley City-Barnes County Public Library Stop Motion Monday will be held from 4 to 6 p.m.

Tuesday, July 4
Independence Day celebration will be held in Sanborn featuring a parade, pickup pull, demolition derby and fireworks show.

The Valley City-Barnes County Public Library will be closed in observance of Independence Day.

The Barnes County Courthouse will be closed in observance of Independence Day. The sheriff’s office and jail will remain staffed.

Tuesday, July 4-Wednesday, July 5
Fort Ransom Arena Association will hold rodeos and a parade in Fort Ransom.

Wednesday, July 5
The Valley City-Barnes County Public Library Circle Time with Sara Engler will be held at 10 a.m. and Story Hour with Abby and Kristi Shanenko will be held at 10:30 a.m.

Music in the Park, featuring Mikey Meester and Eric Johnson, will be held in the Valley City City Park Bandshell at 7:15 p.m. In the event of inclement weather, the program will be held at the Vault Coffee Shop on Central Avenue in Valley City. Attendants should bring their own lawn chair or blanket and mosquito spray.

Thursday, July 6
The Valley City-Barnes County Public Library Make -n- Take Sandpaper Printed Towels will be held at 10:30 a.m.; Food Hacks will be held from 5 to 7 p.m.; and Six weeks of Judaism begins at 6 p.m.

Friday, July 7
The Valley City-Barnes County Public Library Toddler Music and Movement will be held at 10:30 a.m.

Friday, July 7-Saturday, July 8
Barnes County 4-H Achievement Days will be held at the North Dakota Winter Show Event Center in Valley City. On July 7 from 12 to 5 p.m. the public is invited to the Valley City Eagles Club to view 4-H exhibits. Beginning at 5:30, the 4-H Dog Obedience and Showmanship show begins. On July 8 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. the public is invited to the Winter Show Event Center to view the Livestock show.

Saturday, July 8
Sheyenne River Valley Chapter of the North Country Trail is hosting a trail work day. Meet at the Rosebud Visitors Center in Valley City at 8:30 a.m. RSVP to Chris at 701-490-2295.
A Bull-a-Rama will be held in Sanborn.

The Eighth Annual Sweet N’ Stickey in Dickey Rib Cook Off will be held at the Dickey Bar in Dickey, N.D. Starting 6 p.m., ribs will be served to the public. Attendees are encouraged to give a free-will donation for a meal. Church of Cash, a Johnny Cash tribute band, will perform from 9 p.m. to 12 p.m. Attendants are asked to bring a lawn chair to watch the band. All proceeds will be given to Hospice of the Red River Valley.

Saturday, July 8-Sunday, July 9
Summer Sodbusters Days will be held at Fort Ransom State Park.

Sunday, July 9
Sheyenne River Valley Chapter of the North Country Trail is hosting a Fort Ransom State Park hike. Meet at the Rosebud Visitors Center in Valley City to carpool. Participants will hike about 3.5 miles from the park visitor center to the historic site.
